Support Two Rivers Habitat Through the Minnesota Housing Tax Credit Program

Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity is proud to participate in the Minnesota State Housing Tax Credit Program, which offers a powerful way to support affordable housing while receiving a charitable tax benefit. Eligible projects include a new build in Rochester, the Veteran Build in Owatonna, and the upcoming Waseca Build.

Eligible Minnesota taxpayers – both individuals and businesses – can contribute to affordable housing projects in the State Housing Tax Credit (SHTC) Program and Contribution Fund and qualify to receive a state tax credit of 85%* of the contribution!

Act fast! First-come, first-serve. Program closes when the max of $9.9 million for the year is met. The last two years, the program closed after 6 weeks.

This Is How It Works

To contribute to the funds and receive a state tax credit, follow these steps:

Click “Contribute to this project.” The online State Housing Tax Credit Contribution Application will open.

  • Complete the online application with each required field, as applicable.
  • In the Contribution Information section, select “Specific Qualified Project,” enter the following, then click submit:
  • Name of project: Hillview Home 2026-Veterans Build Owatonna – Seventh Ave Waseca
  • Type of project: Homeownership
  • Developer/Owner/Administrator Name: Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity
  • Contact name: Terry Smith
  • Contact telephone number: 507-516-0575

  • Income limit: 80% of AMI
  • Owner type: single-family home

Note: you will not receive a confirmation email after submission.

After the application is reviewed, the applicant will receive an email from MN Housing with the Taxpayer Certification Signature form and payment instructions. Submit signed documents and contribution funds by the date provided in the email.

MN Housing will issue a tax credit certificate to the taxpayer within 30 days of receipt of the signed document and funds.
