While you prepare for completion of the application, the following items tend to take longer than a couple weeks to collect. Our application cycle is just under a month long and you will want to start collecting the following items to include in your submission of the application.

• A certified copy of your proof of residency (i.e. Certified Birth Certificate, Passport, Certificate of Citizenship, Certificate of Naturalization, etc.)
• Last two years of state and federal income taxes (2022, 2023)
• Paystubs for two months prior to application
• Two most recent statements from Credit Cards
• Copy of your lease agreement, if currently renting
• Three most recent bank statements

Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce the opening of applications of our Veterans Build for a new-construction 4-bedroom, 2-bath home with a 2 car garage in Owatonna, Minnesota!

Build

Through new construction, rehabs, repairs and barrier free renovations, we provide simple, decent, affordable housing and homeownership opportunities for military service members, veterans, and surviving spouses.

Educate

Provide veterans with access to financial education programs that support sustainable homeownership and promote a better understanding of military/veteran culture among Habitat’s civilian supporters.

Mobilize

Engage service members, veterans, their families, families of the fallen and Habitat’s civilian supporters to serve and honor veterans together in volunteer opportunities and veteran focused advocacy both domestically and abroad.

Employ

Leverage the skills and experience of veterans for employment, internship, fellowship, apprenticeship and national service opportunities within Habitat and enable similar opportunities with partner organizations.

Honor

Identify opportunities to honor service members, veterans, and surviving spouses.

​Who Can Apply?

Habitat for Humanity is committed to partnering with families who are in need of decent, affordable housing. To be considered, applicants must be Veterans, active-duty service members or surviving spouses and meet the following requirements:

• Ability to pay – Applicants must demonstrate the ability to repay an affordable mortgage.
• Need for housing – The family must be living in substandard or overcrowded conditions or have a need for affordable housing.
• Willingness to partner – Applicants must be willing to contribute “sweat equity,” which includes helping with the construction or renovation of their new home and attending homeownership classes.
